Could a dishwasher raise your child’s allergy, asthma risk?

February 27, 2015 by Alyson Simpson Leave a Comment

The concept behind this is the hygiene hypothesis.
Although we have to be careful during the flu and cold season, a certain level of germ and microbe exposure can help balance our immune system and shift us away from an allergic profile.  It’s important to clean our homes and dishes but a small amount of germ exposure can be helpful.
Other risk factors that can reduce the incidence of allergies and support the hygiene hypothesis include:  Daycare, preschool, living on a farm, having multiple siblings.
